Like tents before a storm golden cloaks ripple
a flood of hot scarlet exposes chests and feet
cedar apostles raise their huge heads
a beard dark as an axe hangs from the heights

The woodcarvers’ fingers blossom. The miracle slips from their hands
so they put them in the air—the air becomes stormy as chords
Stars dim in the sky music also comes from the stars
but doesn’t reach the earth it remains high as the moon
