Shadows from the spruce woods slouch down the hill,
the windmill’s crippled shadow
pierces the house, a blue fog spirits
the trees and the full moon
floods the empty corral. Near the dark edge
of a scream, I hunch toward my Tensor,
working at the window
on taxes. The bleak numbers blur.
