Forgotten, shabby and long time abandoned
          in stubbled fur, with broken
teeth like toggles, the old gods are leaving.
They will no longer crack the
tarmac of the language, open generous
          rivers, heal our scoured thoughts
They will only blink, and move on and
tomorrow no-one will remember their songs
