Already Judah Street awaits the rain
of streetcar-whine down avenues of rain—
the snap of black umbrellas, the falling coin.
We strangers on the train ignore the rain,
observe two boys in neon slickers run
to catch their bus. Too late! Stuck in the rain,
the boy who’s taller smacks the smaller one,
his passion given license by the rain.
