The painter and sculptor Hadi Falapishi was born in Tehran in 1987 and has lived and worked in New York since 2014. Since last summer, he has undertaken the nightly practice of waking himself with an alarm in the small hours and recording, in a bedside notebook, and with the lights still off, whatever fragments he can recall of the dream he’d been having. The next day, he brings these notes to his studio, where he turns them into drawings—a selection of which are here presented in Dreams—with pencil, paint marker, and acrylic paint on pieces of found cardboard.
