Yellow Iris

 Like everything else they are
like nothing else—

intricate and simple:
so elaborate in articulating
their entireties as to be wholly
ineffable and yet
easier than their name;

closed and open:
inscrutable as to
the sources of their being
as they are, but inviting—
that breezy gold transparency!

as largely overlooked
as the work
of a forgotten author
to be had so cheaply
no one is interested.
