Maria Álvarez’s documentary chronicles the meetings of the Buenos Aires book club that has been discussing Marcel Proust’s In Search of Lost Time for nearly two decades, beginning the novel again each time they reach the end. In this moving testament to what one club member calls the “creative act” of reading and to the value of literary companionship, passages from Proust’s sprawling roman à clef open doors to the readers’ own memories and reflections.
