Rachel Kushner is author of The Flamethrowers, a finalist for the 2013 National Book Award and selected as one of The New York Times' top five novels of 2013. Her debut novel, Telex from Cuba, was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award, making her the only writer ever nominated for both a first and second novel. Her fiction and essays have appeared in The New YorkerHarper’sThe New York Times, and The Paris Review, among other publications. She is the recipient of a 2013 Guggenheim Fellowship.
