Joseph Heller was an American author best known for his novel Catch-22 (1961), which satirizes life in the American military; the novel became a sensation, was made into a 1970 film, and inspired the popular expression “catch-22.” Heller also worked a screenwriter and playwright. His second novel, Something Happened, was published in 1974. Heller wrote three more novels and an autobiography in his lifetime, and a novel and short story collection were published posthumously.
