Eudora Welty
Eudora Welty was an American novelist and short story writer. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Welty is considered a preeminent voice of Southern literature. She earned acclaim for her first story collection, A Curtain of Green, and received numerous O. Henry Awards throughout her career. She later won a Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Optimist’s Daughter and went on to receive both the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
