    Perpetually on my night stand is “Mystery and Manners” as we’ll as Ms. O’Connor’s complete stories. One can never tire of reading her short stories; when critics refer to her as a southern or Chridtian, or gothic, or. Grotesque author they entirely miss her dexterity with language, and the craft of writing as a means of defining human nature. Her entire body of work is akin to the ceiling in the Sistine chapel: it just happens to depicts a religious theme, but the actual work is sublime.
