Hanawalt\u2019s insouciant, irreverent drawings and stories regularly grace the pages of <\/em>Lucky Peach<em><em>, and <\/em>a number of the book\u2019s longer pieces appeared there <\/em><em>first, including her <a href=\"http:\/\/luckypeach.com\/goodbye-to-all-that-sugar-spice-and-fat\/\" target=\"_blank\">illustrated tour<\/a> of the New York City street-food scene<em> and the James Beard Award\u2013winning <\/em>\u201cOn the Trail with Wylie,\u201d in which she shadows chef Wylie Dufresne for a day: One dish he prepares contains \u201cthe most delicate sea scallops basking in almond oil and a single ravioli made from carrot. I eat the ravioli too fast to see what\u2019s inside, but based on the flavor I would describe it as \u2018sex cheese.\u2019 \u201d<\/em><em><br \/> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><cite>The restaurant critic Jonathan Gold<\/cite> <em>has called Hanawalt \u201cthe Matisse of the buffet line, the O\u2019Keeffe of the fish ball and the Vermeer of the pigeon with a hot dog in its beak.\u201d
