You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/92y\" target=\"_blank\">listen to some of them here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday,\u00a0Mackey will read some of his poems\u00a0and talk about his work\u00a0with Cathy Park Hong. Mackey was born in Miami, Florida, in 1947, and grew up, from age four, in California. He\u2019s the author of twelve books of poetry, most recently\u00a0<em>Blue<\/em> <em>Fasa<\/em>; five works of fiction, two books of criticism, and an anthology on jazz in poetry and prose.\u00a0\u201cHis poetry ambitiously continues an American bardic line that unfolds from <em>Leaves of Grass<\/em> to Pound\u2019s <em>Cantos <\/em>to H.D.\u2019s <em>Trilogy<\/em> to Olson\u2019s <em>The Maximus Poems<\/em>, winds through the whole of Robert Duncan\u2019s work and extends beyond all of these,\u201d wrote Don Share. \u201cMackey\u2019s own rare combinations create an astonishing and resounding effect: his words go where music goes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re giving away <strong>five pairs of tickets<\/strong>.\u00a0For a chance to win, retweet our announcement below before nine <small>A.M.<\/small> EST tomorrow morning (April 19).
