The Paris Review<\/em> hasn\u2019t been headquartered in Paris since 1973\u2014a cause of immeasurable confusion over the years. But this week, for once, our name makes sense: our editor, Lorin Stein<\/strong>, is in the City of Light. Though he\u2019s not, to my knowledge, reviewing anything there<\/a>, he\u2019s speaking at two free events, and we invite our Parisian readers to attend.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, March 15, Lorin joins\u00a0Russell Williams<\/strong> and\u00a0Nelly Kapri\u00e8lian<\/strong>\u00a0at the American University of Paris for a panel called <\/a>\u201cTranslating Houellebecq<\/a>.\u201d They\u2019ll discuss the global reception, significance, and challenges of Michel Houellebecq\u2019s\u00a0Submission<\/em>, which Lorin translated into English last year. The talk will be held in Room C-104, located in the AUP Combes building, at six\u00a0P.M.<\/small>; those looking to attend should write\u00a0rwilliams@aup.edu<\/a> to register.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, March 17, Lorin and David Szalay <\/strong>appear in conversation at Shakespeare and Company<\/a>. Szalay is the winner of this year\u2019s Plimpton Prize<\/a>, awarded for his novellas\u00a0Youth<\/a><\/em>, from\u00a0issue 213<\/a>, and Lascia Amor e siegui Marte<\/a><\/em>, from\u00a0issue 215<\/a>. Their talk begins at seven.<\/p>\n
