Plus, effigies strung up from trees and set alight are apt to be misinterpreted, especially if you\u2019re standing there cackling merrily as they burn.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s an expat or an Anglophile to do? One\u2019s last recourse, it seems, is just to cue up\u00a0V for Vendetta<\/em>\u00a0and eat a caramel apple in sullen, mildly rebellious solitude. But wait.
