Previous recipients include John Ashbery, Joan Didion, Paula Fox, Norman Mailer, Peter Matthiessen, George Plimpton (posthumously), Barney Rosset, Philip Roth, Norman Rush, James Salter, Frederick Seidel, Robert Silvers, and William Styron.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s only fitting that Lydia Davis should join their ranks. Her history with the <em>Review<\/em> begins in 1983, when we published her story \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/back-issues\/88\" target=\"_blank\">Break It Down<\/a>\u201d; she\u2019s since contributed some of our most beloved stories, including \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/fiction\/6230\/five-stories-lydia-davis\" target=\"_blank\">If at the Wedding (At the Zoo)<\/a>,\u201d \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/fiction\/6038\/ten-stories-from-flaubert-lydia-davis\" target=\"_blank\">Ten Stories from Flaubert<\/a>,\u201d and, most recently, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/fiction\/6275\/the-seals-lydia-davis\" target=\"_blank\">The Seals<\/a>.\u201d She\u2019s curated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/art-photography\/6263\/curated-by-lydia-davis-dutch-scenes\" target=\"_blank\">a portfolio of Dutch scenes<\/a> and written for the <em>Daily<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2010\/09\/15\/why-a-new-madame-bovary\/\" target=\"_blank\">about translating <em>Madame Bovary<\/em><\/a>; earlier this year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/interviews\/6366\/art-of-fiction-no-227-lydia-davis\" target=\"_blank\">she was interviewed for our Art of Fiction series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Davis is the author of one novel, <em>The End of the Story<\/em>, and six story collections. Her translations from the French include new versions of <em>Swann\u2019s Way<\/em> and <em>Madame Bovary<\/em>. She received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2003 and is the recipient of the 2013 Man Booker International Prize.
