\u201cCoke,\u201d a poem by Scott Cohen from our Summer 1971<\/a> issue. Cohen\u2019s collection <\/em>Actual Size was published the same year.<\/em><\/p>\n

The difference in the speed of the thought process of a man who has just snorted coke and a man who hasn\u2019t is a very strange number which has a cosmic meaning, that is, it enters into the cosmic processes. This number is 27,000.<\/p>\n

I was glad to find the Bar-B-Q Book sitting on my desk because sitting on the Bar-B-Q Book was another gram of coke. <\/p>\n

Sitting in one of the caf\u00e9s was a man born without a nose. That part of his face had no trace of there ever having been a nose. There weren\u2019t even openings. The man, however, was able to smell through his ears, which he also used for snorting coke.<\/p>\n

You never hear the expression \u201cHe holds his coke well.\u201d<\/p>\n

My three favorite Dylan songs: \u201cIt Ain\u2019t Me, Coke,\u201d \u201cLike a Rolling Coke,\u201d and \u201cJohn Wesley Coke.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the field an ounce of grass costs about 50 cents and an ounce of hash about the same. By the time the grass gets here an ounce costs $10-$15 and an ounce of hash $70. An ounce of coke costs anywhere from $600-$900.<\/p>\n

I used to think the greatest pleasure in the world would be a ride around Central Park in a carriage on a crisp night with a bottle of champagne and my best girl. Now I think the greatest pleasure would be a ride around Central Park in a carriage with a bag of coke.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t remember your other eye, I puked.\u201d I was under the influence of coke.<\/p>\n

A man and his friend were sniffing coke on a mountain during an earthquake. The earthquake was so bad it shook the cars that were parked near the top of the mountain. The man wasn\u2019t surprised when his friend got hit in the head by a car.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows what a great film \u201cGone With the Coke\u201d was.<\/p>\n

\u201cI reached in my pocket but my pocket said \u2018No more coke.\u2019\u201d That\u2019s what the man in the song says.<\/p>\n

That man had some and two hours later, I had some. Then Ann came home and we both had some. The next day no one had any. Then I had some and there was only a tiny bit left. Actually there was a lot left and we all had some.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
