Recently, 92Y and <em>The Paris Review<\/em> have made recordings of these interviews available at <a href=\"http:\/\/92yondemand.org\/Topic\/paris-review-series\/\">92Y\u2019s Poetry Center Online<\/a> and here at\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/92y\">The Paris Review<\/a><\/em>. Consider them deleted scenes from our Writers at Work interviews, or directors\u2019 cuts, or surprisingly lifelike radio adaptations.<\/p>\n<p>Because our new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/back-issues\/213\" target=\"_blank\">Summer issue<\/a> has a focus on translation,\u00a0we\u2019ve dug up\u00a0two interviews with translators to present this week. The first is with the poet\u00a0<strong>Czes\u0142aw Mi\u0142osz<\/strong>\u2014it\u2019s his birthday today, coincidentally\u2014whose translations into Polish include \u00a0works by\u00a0Baudelaire,\u00a0Eliot,\u00a0Milton,\u00a0Shakespeare, Whitman, and Simone Weil.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mi\u0142osz spoke to<strong> Robert Faggen<\/strong> at 92Y on<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>October 4, 1993; the interview went on to become Mi\u0142osz\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/interviews\/1721\/the-art-of-poetry-no-70-czeslaw-milosz\" target=\"_blank\">Art of Poetry interview<\/a>, published in our Winter 1994 issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Of course, it\u2019s true that people talk too much and without restraint. But poetry imposes certain restraints. Nevertheless, there is always the feeling that you didn\u2019t unveil yourself enough. A book is finished and appears and I feel, Well, next time I will unveil myself. And when the next book appears, I have the same feeling.
