This is a chance to see how successful authors got their start, in their own words\u2014it\u2019s the portrait of the artist as a beginner and a look at the creative process, in all its joy, abjection, delusion, and euphoria.<\/p>\n<p>Kicking off the series today is <strong>J. Robert Lennon<\/strong>, who discusses his 1997 debut novel, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Light-Falling-Stars-Robert-Lennon\/dp\/B007HWO1TKhttp:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1573226823?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=1573226823&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=theparrev0f-20\" target=\"_blank\">The Light of Falling Stars<\/a><\/em>. He explores the perils of reading one\u2019s Amazon reviews, the process of finding an agent, and the experience of seeing the book\u2019s cover for the first time. \u201cYour first book is a thing that your entire life has gone up to creating,\u201d he says. \u201cYou can\u2019t preemptively decide upon the correct way for your book to be. You have to kind of discover it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow we\u2019ll feature <strong>Gabrielle Bell<\/strong>\u2014and later this week will come\u00a0<strong>Branden Jacobs-Jenkins<\/strong> and <strong>Christine Schutt<\/strong>.
