This is a watershed moment not just historians of cinema, but for historians of amateur illusionism: \u201cThe unfinished memoir \u2026 was interspersed with other \u2018weird stuff\u2019 \u2026 including scripted patter for magic acts that Welles performed.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Further proof that your ambitions are too modest and you\u2019ll never amount to anything: \u201cIn 1619, at the ripe age of twenty, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nybooks.com\/articles\/archives\/2015\/jun\/04\/bernini-he-had-touch\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gian Lorenzo Bernini set himself the seemingly impossible challenge of carving the human soul in marble<\/a> \u2026 Bernini was precocious, authoritative, and versatile: he had the touch no matter what he put his hand to. He could make limp swags of drapery swirl and throb as if some sort of lifeblood ran through them.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>You know who else had the touch? Bob Seger, when he wrote \u201cNight Moves,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/creating-bob-segers-night-moves-1432056405\" target=\"_blank\">which took him six months<\/a>: \u201cWe drove over to the Palm restaurant, where Bruce Wendell [Seger\u2019s label\u2019s head of promotions] was having lunch with Paul Drew, who programmed all the RKO Top 40 radio stations in the country\u00a0\u2026 He came out to the car and we played it for him.
