It has just the kind of history and pedigree that makes documentarians salivate\u2014so, sure enough, <a href=\"http:\/\/grantland.com\/features\/gay-talese-address-book\/\" target=\"_blank\">it\u2019s soon to be the subject of a documentary<\/a>. \u201c \u2018Do you really think you can make a film out of this?\u2019 Talese asked me, somewhere around the F\u2019s. Absolutely, I told him.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2015\/05\/13\/arts\/william-zinsser-author-of-on-writing-well-dies-at-92.html\" target=\"_blank\">William Zinsser has died at ninety-two<\/a>. His <i>On Writing Well<\/i> belongs on the shelf next to Strunk and White\u2014a clear, well-styled guide to clear, well-styled writing. A classic Zinsserism: \u201cThere\u2019s not much to be said about the period except that most writers don\u2019t reach it soon enough.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>In which Nicholson Baker, a vacuumer as much as a writer, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/tech\/elements\/innovation-suction\" target=\"_blank\">contends with the utility and beauty of <i>true suction<\/i><\/a>: \u201cSo strong is the Zing\u2019s suction that it has a volume dial in its forehead that you can adjust on the fly from gentle to area-rug-ravaging. I vacuumed several rooms before a dinner party last week and found myself singing Irish drinking songs loudly as I worked.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Hannah Arendt is still at the center of the argument: \u201cLike so many Jewish texts throughout the ages, <i>Eichmann in Jerusalem<\/i> is an invitation to an auto-da-f\u00e9. Only in this case, almost all of the inquisitors are Jews.
