We\u2019re celebrating the release of <em>My Struggle<\/em>\u2019s fourth volume\u2014but we\u2019re also celebrating the latest <strong>Norwegian-American Literary Festival<\/strong>, a series of readings, conversations, and musical performances coming to New York for three nights next month.<\/p>\n<p>The festival begins on Wednesday, May 20, at <a href=\"http:\/\/westwaynyc.com\/\">the Westway<\/a> in the Meatpacking District, where <strong>Karl Ove Knausgaard\u2019s reunited college band<\/strong>, Lemen, will take the stage. <strong>James Wood<\/strong>\u2019s band, the Fun Stuff, will perform, too, and <strong>Lydia Davis <\/strong>will begin the night in conversation with <strong>Dag Solstad<\/strong> about writing family history. Solstad is one of Norway\u2019s preeminent writers, the author of thirty-three\u00a0books translated into thirty languages. Davis <a href=\"http:\/\/lithub.com\/lydia-davis-at-the-end-of-the-world\/\">learned Norwegian by reading his latest novel<\/a>, a four-hundred-page epic whose title translates, roughly, as <em>The Insoluble Epic Element in Telemark in the Period 1591\u20131896<\/em>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Next, on Thursday, May 21, at Chelsea\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.192books.com\">192 Books<\/a>, <strong>James Wood<\/strong> will appear in discussion with four of Norway\u2019s most promising young writers:\u00a0<strong>Kjersti Annesdatter Skomsvold<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Carl Frode Tiller<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gunnhild \u00d8yehaug<\/strong>,\u00a0and <strong>Lars Petter Sveen<\/strong>. We\u2019ll introduce these writers in the weeks to come.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, on Friday, May 22, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunnysredhook.com\">Sunny\u2019s<\/a>, in Red Hook, we\u2019ll have a conversation with <strong>Knausgaard <\/strong>and <strong>Wood<\/strong>, followed by two additional performances from their respective bands, with a guest performance by <em>The New Yorker<\/em>\u2019s <strong>David Remnick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll have more details as these dates approach\u2014for now, mark your calendars.
