And, he says, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2015-03-19\/tax-advice-from-david-foster-wallace\" target=\"_blank\">Wallace has helpful advice for those of us bogged down by tax season<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI hate literature,\u201d Varlam Shalamov wrote in a 1965 letter. Nonetheless, he did well by it. \u201cBetween 1954 and 1973, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2015\/mar\/19\/short-story-survey-varlam-shalamov-kolyma-tales-gulag\" target=\"_blank\">Shalamov wrote 147 stories about Russian prisons<\/a>, transit camps, the mines of Kolyma, life in the camp hospitals, and the troubled experience of returning home \u2026 the more you read, the less documentary-like the experience becomes \u2026 particular images and phrases repeat; objects exhibit a strong symbolic power; meanings double, as accounts of daily camp life take on aesthetic and philosophical dimensions.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe flower\u2019s leaves \u2026 serve as bridal beds which the creator has so gloriously arranged \u2026 and perfumed with so many soft scents that the bridegroom with his bride might there celebrate their nuptials with so much greater solemnity.\u201d Scientists remember Carl Linnaeus today for his binomial system, but <a href=\"http:\/\/publicdomainreview.org\/2015\/03\/11\/sex-and-science-in-robert-thorntons-temple-of-flora\/\" target=\"_blank\">his writing on botany was, for the time, frankly sexual<\/a>. The <em>Encyclopedia Britannica<\/em> referred to his work as \u201cdisgusting strokes of obscenity.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhen the people shall have nothing to eat, they will eat the rich,\u201d Rousseau wrote. But what if intraclass cannibals beat them to it?
