\"MasterRe_275\"<\/a> This morning, the Folio Prize announced the eight novels on their 2015 shortlist<\/a>. The prize, now in its second year, is the only major English-language book award open to writers around the world; it aims \u201cto celebrate the best fiction of our time, regardless of form or genre.\u201d Its chair of judges, William Fiennes, told the\u00a0Guardian <\/em>that the books on this year\u2019s list \u201csay something true about human experience in a way that feels like something new\u201d: \u201cThere\u2019s dazzle and wildness and experiment<\/a> hand in hand with a deep core commitment to human struggles and fervors and longings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plenty of that dazzle and wildness is already familiar to our readers, who have encountered three of this year\u2019s shortlisted novels in The Paris Review<\/em>. Parts of Ben Lerner\u2019s 10:04<\/em> appeared in our Summer 2013<\/a> and Spring 2014<\/a>\u00a0issues; our Winter 2014 issue included an extract from Jenny Offill\u2019s Dept. of Speculation<\/em><\/a>; and in that same issue, we began to serialize the entirety of Rachel Cusk\u2019s Outline<\/em><\/a>. We\u2019re delighted that the three of them have been recognized for their work.<\/p>\n

The full shortlist is below\u2014congratulations to all the nominees. The winner will be announced on March 23.<\/p>\n
