His former colleague Andrew O\u2019Hagan called him \u201cperhaps the last of the great Bloomsbury men \u2026 Of course, there are brilliant writers and editors now, but they live in a world where the squeeze on literary values and on books programs, on high culture and carefulness, is fearsome and degrading. They\u2019re also jam-packed with nude actresses and erotic posturing \u2026\u2009\u201d<\/li>\n<li>A salute to Futura, the typeface that\u2019s been to the moon (and in every Wes Anderson film): \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/browbeat\/2014\/09\/25\/futura_typeface_beloved_by_wes_anderson_is_perfect.html?wpsrc=fol_tw\" target=\"_blank\">Futura represents the rational utopia of progress<\/a>, where everything not only works well, but looks good doing it \u2026 Futura was the future we dreamt of in the past, and, in part, the future we achieved.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>On the celebrity of the Mitford sisters: Were these \u201cbeautiful, wayward young women\u201d\u2014the youngest of whom died yesterday\u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstatesman.com\/culture\/2014\/09\/why-mitford-sisters-were-kardashians-their-day\" target=\"_blank\">the Kardashians of their day<\/a>? \u201cAlthough it\u2019s a stretch to imagine any of the Mitford sisters making a sex tape or promoting an ice cream called Va-Va-Va-Nilla, the nature of their fame is similar.
