In the early nineteenth century, a minister at Cowan Bridge noted that Charlotte \u201cwrites indifferently \u2026 knows nothing of grammar, geography, history, or accomplishments.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Do you seek a bland font, a middling font, a dutifully average font? Try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/arts-culture\/universal-typeface-averages-worlds-handwriting-to-produce-an-incredibly-average-font-180951904\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Universal Typeface<\/a>, \u201ca constantly evolving, algorithmically produced font created by averaging hundreds of thousands of handwriting samples submitted to BIC\u2019s website. Anyone with a touchscreen can help shape the Universal Typeface by linking their phone or tablet to the website and writing directly on the touchscreen\u2014the lettering is quickly transferred to the Universal Typeface algorithm.\u00a0As of this writing, more than 400,000 samples have been collected from around the world, and the resulting alphabet is \u2026 well, sort of boring.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Wallace Shawn discusses playwriting and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2014\/07\/22\/wallace_shawn_i_wish_people_knew_me_as_a_radical_playwright_instead_for_the_princess_bride\/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=socialflow\" target=\"_blank\">his new take on Ibsen\u2019s<\/a> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2014\/07\/22\/wallace_shawn_i_wish_people_knew_me_as_a_radical_playwright_instead_for_the_princess_bride\/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=socialflow\" target=\"_blank\">The Master Builder<\/a><\/em>:\u00a0\u201cIf a man can presume to make a list of men who contributed to the feminist view of life, you\u2019d have to put Ibsen at the head of the list. But he\u2019s laying out on the table some of the worst male fantasies. I mean, he was a very daring writer, and he dared to be sort of sickening. He dared to create these characters who were sort of dreadful.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe jukebox musical can be an embarrassing phenomenon: a living, breathing pop-music wax museum.
