The book you make might be one by the writer on stage, something you\u2019ve written yourself, or any other text the robots conjure up.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI think <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2014\/jun\/01\/jeremy-paxman-poets-engage-ordinary-people-forward-prize?CMP=twt_gu\" target=\"_blank\">poetry has really rather connived at its own irrelevance<\/a> and that shouldn&#8217;t happen, because it&#8217;s the most delightful thing \u2026 We have lost the sense that poetry sits halfway between prose and music\u2014that you can&#8217;t expect to read it like a novel. We are quite used to downloading an album and listening to certain tracks \u2026 poetry needs to be consumed in that way.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>On Tolkien\u2019s 1926 translation of Beowulf, which was finally published last month: \u201cThe literary landscape has changed since then in a way that Tolkien would have neither expected nor accepted: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newstatesman.com\/culture\/2014\/05\/j-r-r-tolkien-beowulf-one-mans-passion-threshold-between-myth-and-reality\" target=\"_blank\">he now towers in fame over Beowulf<\/a>. Last year, Penguin repackaged its Michael Alexander translation as one of five \u2018classic [stories] that inspired\u00a0J R R Tolkien\u2019s <em>The Hobbit<\/em>.\u2019 but far more people will read the book for Tolkien\u2019s sake than for <em>Beowulf<\/em>\u2019s.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThough their obsolescence has been prophesied at various points, neighborhoods remain a vital\u2014perhaps the most vital\u2014way of <a href=\"http:\/\/wilsonquarterly.com\/quarterly\/fall-2014-mexican-momentum\/what-place-do-neighborhoods-have-in-modern-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\">thinking about the modern city<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>A 1959 promotional comic touts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retronaut.com\/2014\/06\/the-mighty-atom\/\" target=\"_blank\">the glories of atomic energy<\/a> through Reddy Kilowatt, everyone\u2019s favorite grinningly electric asexual mascot: \u201c<em>I\u2019m a real, live wire and I never tire. Yes, sir\u2014I\u2019m a red-hot shot.
