A panel of \u201cindependent experts\u201d is soon to convene in pursuit of that very fucking question.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, in America and the UK, <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/84393\/uncensored-f-scott-fitzgerald\/\" target=\"_blank\">an unexpurgated edition of F. Scott Fitzgerald\u2019s <em>Taps at Reveille<\/em><\/a>\u2014its expletives intact; its sex, drugs, and anti-Semitic slurs restored\u2014will arrive next month.<\/li>\n<li>Long before the heyday of Lisa Frank, there was the pop artist Walter Keane, who became something of a household name in the sixties: his work depicted sad children with enormous, farcically melancholy eyes. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vice.com\/read\/behind-the-big-eyes?utm_source=vicetwtitterus\" target=\"_blank\">But his wife Margaret deserved all the credit<\/a>: \u201cThe man wasn\u2019t a painter at all. Margaret was the creator of all the Big\u00a0Eye art. Walter basked in the glory, partied with the celebrities, and reaped the rewards. As she would later relate, the tearful, doe-eyed children she painted had nothing to do with Walter\u2019s supposed belief in children redeeming the world. The weeping waifs reflected her own sorrow.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/health_and_science\/science\/2014\/05\/phineas_gage_neuroscience_case_true_story_of_famous_frontal_lobe_patient.html\" target=\"_blank\">Revising the myth of Phineas Gage<\/a>, who survived, in the late nineteenth century, an accident in which an iron rod went straight through his head, and who has been fodder for Psych 101 students ever since. \u201cRecent historical work, however, suggests that much of the canonical Gage story is hogwash, a m\u00e9lange of scientific prejudice, artistic license, and outright fabrication.
