Boogert (!) compiled <em>Trait\u00e9 des couleurs servant \u00e0 la peinture \u00e0 l\u2019eau<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisiscolossal.com\/2014\/05\/color-book\/\" target=\"_blank\">an eight-hundred-page compendium of paint and color<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The literary critic Randall Jarrell <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nybooks.com\/blogs\/gallery\/2014\/may\/06\/randall-jarrell-maurice-sendak-children-books\/\" target=\"_blank\">also wrote five children\u2019s books<\/a>\u2014several of them illustrated by Maurice Sendak. \u201c<em>The Bat-Poet<\/em> is the sweetish story of a bat who longs to stay up during the day and sing the song of the mockingbird; to his delight, he discovers that he himself can be a songster \u2026 \u2018on the willow\u2019s highest branch, monopolizing \/ Day and night, cheeping, squeaking, soaring \/ The mockingbird is imitating life.\u2019\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Rupert Murdoch\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2014\/may\/02\/news-corp-harlequin-purchase-romantic-publisher\" target=\"_blank\">News Corp has acquired Harlequin<\/a>, whose romances offer \u201cempathetic insight into contemporary cultures.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/technology\/archive\/2014\/05\/ebay-wants-to-be-a-digital-magazine-of-things\/361807\/\" target=\"_blank\">EBay is launching a \u201cdigital magazine\u201d<\/a> at \u201cthe intersection of retail and publishing.\u201d The president of eBay marketplaces, Devin Wenig, says, \u201cWe\u2019re now in the content business \u2026 for the first time, eBay has a voice. We\u2019re telling stories. We have an editor. We have curators. And we have writers on-staff. \u00a0You\u2019ll see that evolve to some longer-form stories, some really beautiful pictures&#8230; It\u2019s media-like.\u201d He adds: \u201cWe\u2019re entering a post-mobile age now,\u201d he said. \u201cMobile is so important that it\u2019s almost silly to talk about mobile.\u201d (By the way, did you know <em>The Paris Review<\/em> has recently unveiled our new mobile site?)<\/li>\n<li>In Paris, to \u201clock in their love,\u201d tourist couples put locks on the Pont des Arts and other bridges\u2014which would be an innocuous tradition, as far as these things go, except <a href=\"http:\/\/nymag.com\/thecut\/2014\/05\/jet-lagged-new-yorker-bent-on-unlocking-paris.html?mid=twitter_nymag\" target=\"_blank\">it makes the bridges ugly and dangerous<\/a>.
