Does this make it less true?<\/li>\n<li>Here\u2019s what it was like to attend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/05\/04\/opinion\/sunday\/english-class-with-mr-roth.html?_r=1\" target=\"_blank\">a literature seminar taught by Philip Roth<\/a> in the seventies: \u201cHe barely looked at us or made eye contact, but murmured a hello, then sat down in his chair, crossed one long leg over the other, and slowly unbuckled his watch. That\u2019s as sexy as it got.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/blog\/179170\/writing-prestige-and-other-things-dont-pay-rent\" target=\"_blank\">Does journalism fit into capitalism?<\/a> \u2026 Journalism does exist in capitalism, and capitalism is kicking journalists\u2019 asses. The same goes for editors, and for many publications.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Matt Parker, a sound artist, has been touring data hubs\u2014those epicenters of the Internet, where all our e-stuff takes physical form\u2014and recording the ethereal hum they give off. The result: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/technology\/archive\/2014\/05\/what-the-cloud-sounds-like\/361728\/\" target=\"_blank\">musical renderings of the great churn<\/a> \u2026 an incredibly loud and obnoxious place filled with white noise and buzzing hard drives.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/online\/blogs\/culture\/2014\/05\/the-trend-is-toast.html\" target=\"_blank\">Analyzing the artisanal toast trend<\/a>: \u201cArtisanal toast is hardly the first harbinger of our food obsession, or even necessarily the most egregious, but it\u2019s become a scapegoat for a growing, broader cultural backlash; the toast that broke the camel&#8217;s back.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the finest World War II documentaries, 1945\u2019s The Battle of San Pietro, was faked.
