Several things have struck me while undertaking this field research on our species. The first is quite how difficult\u00a0it is to describe faces \u2026 We might say that a mouth is generous, or eyes deep-set, or cheeks acne-scarred, but when set beside the living, breathing, infinitely subtle interplay of inner thought, outward reaction and the nexus of superimposed cultural conventions, it tells us next to nothing about what a person really looks like.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>In Germany, business is booming. The secret: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/business\/archive\/2014\/04\/the-secret-to-german-success-pessimism\/361176\/\" target=\"_blank\">pessimism<\/a>. \u201cGerman executives are almost always less confident in the future than they are in the present.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Discovered in an archive of the LAPD: <a href=\"http:\/\/beautifuldecay.com\/2014\/04\/22\/one-million-vintage-crime-scene-photographs-discovered-los-angeles-police-archives\/\" target=\"_blank\">more than a million old crime-scene
