If there is one imperative that ought to accompany any biographical or critical approach, it is that Kafka is not to be mistaken for the Kafkaesque.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Was the first-ever emoticon in a seventeenth-century poem? Maybe! But <a href=\"http:\/\/text-patterns.thenewatlantis.com\/2014\/04\/smileys-emoticons-typewriter-art.html\" target=\"_blank\">probably not<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Thoughts on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/04\/16\/automobiles\/video-a-25-year-affair-with-a-mazda-miata-still-going-strong.html\" target=\"_blank\">the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Mazda Miata<\/a>: \u201cI was frequently stopped while driving. Fellow Miata owners waved enthusiastically. Clubs were formed. People constantly made offers to buy my car. Miata is a car that\u2019s worn like a jacket. The lithe driving dynamic is a second skin.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>But the Miata was never <a href=\"http:\/\/jalopnik.com\/the-only-car-endorsed-by-a-moonwalker-was-not-what-youd-1563323709?utm_campaign=socialflow_jalopnik_twitter&amp;utm_source=jalopnik_twitter&amp;utm_medium=socialflow\" target=\"_blank\">endorsed by a man who\u2019s walked on the moon<\/a>: the only car to claim that honor is the Volkswagen Beetle, which found an unlikely advocate in Buzz Aldrin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe Pulitzer Prize is a human enterprise.
