Others simply <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/books\/authorinterviews\/10692239\/Marcel-Theroux-on-immortality.html\" target=\"_blank\">write about eternal life<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>And others still must wait for the afterlife for their work to get the attention it deserves. <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/article\/Walter-Benjamin-s-Afterlife\/145291\/\" target=\"_blank\">Walter Benjamin, for instance<\/a>, was \u201call but forgotten in the years leading up to his death \u2026 his name had been kept alive by a small number of friends and colleagues, the kind of trickle of a readership that hardly suggested he would one day be counted among the most significant and far-ranging critics, essayists, and thinkers of the past 100 years.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>But the ebb and flow of critical reputation is almost a given these days, when we\u2019re always developing provocative new rubrics with which to classify our writers. E.g.: \u201cAs novelists spend much of their day watching the grass grow, it is only logical that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themillions.com\/2014\/03\/there-are-two-kinds-of-novelists.html\" target=\"_blank\">they can be defined according to their landscaping technique<\/a>. Thus Donald Antrim<b> <\/b>is a <i>push-mower novelist<\/i>, while<i> <\/i>Rachel Kushner is a <i>ride-mower novelist<\/i>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>There were not always \u201cteenagers.\u201d A new documentary examines the peculiar history of the concept, which was \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thehairpin.com\/2014\/03\/the-teenager-was-the-invention-of-adolescent-girls-an-interview-with-matt-wolf\/\" target=\"_blank\">the result and invention of adolescent girls<\/a> \u2026 There is a kind of sexist quality to it as well, a crucifixion of the young female figure.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>As Ukraine becomes the nexus of geopolitics, pickup artists worry about the implications for getting laid.
