At only twenty-eight days, it always gets short shrift, even during leap years; it\u2019s as if we can\u2019t wait to wash our hands of it. Well, we\u2019re here to say: we\u2019re going to miss it. It was a fine month, one for the books, and we have proof\u2014below are some of the excellent long essays the <em>Daily<\/em> published. Now, onward, to Saint Patrick\u2019s Day, Pi Day, National Potato Chip Day, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peta.org\/blog\/get-tuffet-save-spider-day\/\" target=\"_blank\">Save a Spider Day<\/a>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sabine Heinlein<\/strong>: \u201cWe sat across from each other in a circle surrounded by several other convicted murderers and three Quakers who led the ministry. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2014\/02\/28\/maximum-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\">Richard looked ashen and frail<\/a>, and yet I could see something glowing in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Pablo Cohn<\/strong>: \u201cThey could just once utter that coveted phrase in a loud, authoritative but calm voice: \u2018Stand back, everyone\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2014\/02\/27\/its-my-party\/\" target=\"_blank\">I\u2019m a computer scientist<\/a>.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clifford Chase<\/strong>: \u201c\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2014\/02\/05\/a-downward-glissando\/\" target=\"_blank\">You may hear a cracking sound<\/a>,\u2019 said the oral surgeon, who was also named Cliff. Occasionally life plunges you into an experience that, for its utter intensity and obscure resonance, may as well be a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rebecca Bengal<\/strong>: \u201cIn the midseventies demimonde of Memphis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2014\/02\/07\/a-gun-and-a-guitar\/\" target=\"_blank\">things had a way of becoming totally and suddenly unhinged<\/a>, and McGill was frequently the author of their unhinging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andy Battaglia<\/strong>: \u201c\u2019Pour it a little more aggressively,\u2019 he said through a mouthpiece to a production designer wetting the set with a strange, unidentified liquid.
