Nicola Griffith, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/blog\/2014\/01\/14\/we-all-have-our-magical-thinking-an-interview-with-nicola-griffith\/\">interviewed on the <em>Daily<\/em> last month<\/a>, is up for best novel; and Samuel Delany, interviewed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/interviews\/6088\/the-art-of-fiction-no-210-samuel-r-delany\">the Art of Fiction No. 210<\/a>, has won what\u2019s surely the most finely named lifetime-achievement award in the land, the Damon Knight Grand Master Award. Congratulations to both!<\/li>\n<li>Today in common ground for humankind: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/science-nature\/everybody-almost-every-language-says-huh-huh-180949822\/?utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=socialmedia&amp;utm_campaign=02262014&amp;utm_content=sciencelanguage1\" target=\"_blank\">every language contains the utterance \u201chuh.\u201d<\/a> Let\u2019s say it together.<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/commentary\/la-oe-koss-homeless-glendale-books-20140227,0,2580045.story#axzz2uWe3SS00\" target=\"_blank\">I don\u2019t think I have the right kind of books for homeless people<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><i>Cosmopolitan<\/i>\u2019s sex tips have probably never been anything to write home about, but this one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/xx_factor\/2014\/02\/26\/the_doughnut_on_a_penis_sex_tip_the_history_of_cosmopolitan_s_weirdest_sex.html\" target=\"_blank\">is especially bad<\/a>.
