Well, tough. The weather has always been a great common denominator. And to our credit, we\u2019ve refrained from calling this \u201cWinter Storm Pax\u201d or \u201cthe snowpocalypse.\u201d We have <i>standards<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Here, then, are seven poems from our archives fit for a snowy night. I won\u2019t claim they\u2019ll warm or comfort you\u2014they\u2019re poems, not pap\u2014but they\u2019re terrific reads, and they will be of some help. Next time you share an elevator with a distant colleague, you\u2019ll use the weather as a conversational crutch, as one does; but instead of saying, \u201cMan, it\u2019s cold out!\u201d you\u2019ll say, \u201cSnow is a hat worn by mountains.\u201d You\u2019ll make a lasting impression.<\/p>\n<p>Note, too, that the majority of these poems were published in the spring or summer: a reminder that what\u2019s unendurable now will be desirable in a few months\u2019 time.<\/p>\n<p>Debora Greger, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/poetry\/807\/to-the-snow-debora-greger\" target=\"_blank\">To the Snow<\/a>\u201d (from <i>The Paris Review<\/i> No. 154, Spring 2000)<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Snow, let go.
