Her backpack bore an \u201cEmily the Strange\u201d badge.<\/p>\n<p>Her companion, plump and pale, in an oversized trench coat, turned toward her with a coy tilt of his head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMee-ow,\u201d he purred, extending and then curling his fingers one by one in what was clearly intended to be a cat-like manner.<\/p>\n<p>His companion did not respond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMee-<em>ow<\/em>,\u201d he said more loudly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so fucked on this test. Let\u2019s get some pizza,\u201d she said impatiently, pulling the stop bell.<\/p>\n<p>There was a brief silence.
