Amazon\u2019s latest stratagem: \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2014\/1\/18\/5320636\/amazon-plans-to-ship-your-packages-before-you-even-buy-them\" target=\"_blank\">anticipatory shipping<\/a>,\u201d a program in which the company preemptively sends you products it expects you to buy, \u201cbased on previous searches and purchases, wish lists, and how long the user\u2019s cursor hovers over an item online.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Not unrelatedly, here\u2019s a roundup of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/adam-sternbergh\/dystopias-arent-just-grea_b_4602857.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003\" target=\"_blank\">socially resonant dystopian fiction<\/a>. \u201cThese dystopias, I think, speak to a different kind of anxiety \u2026 one of widespread helplessness in an unfathomably complex world.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newrepublic.com\/article\/116170\/jane-austen-game-theorist-michael-suk-young-chwe-joke\" target=\"_blank\">Using science to explain art is a good way to butcher both<\/a>.\u201d A scorched-earth takedown of <i>Jane Austen, Game Theorist<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li>This roundup is looking pretty bleak.
