On the eighteenth-century <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-tls.co.uk\/tls\/public\/article1195457.ece\" target=\"_blank\">literary vogue for suicides<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty much all hopeless,\u201d and other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2013\/01\/20\/salons_guide_to_writing_a_memoir\/\" target=\"_blank\">advice on writing a memoir<\/a>. (Personally, I would say: throw in a few recipes.)<\/li>\n<li><em>Nineteen Eighty-Four<\/em> has never been dramatized by BBC Radio 4 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/culture\/tvandradio\/bbc\/9818456\/George-Orwells-Nineteen-Eighty-Four-on-BBC-Radio-4-for-first-time.html\" target=\"_blank\">before now<\/a>. Why? Maybe this has something to do with it:\u00a0\u201cOrwell partly based the book&#8217;s torture area, Room 101, on a meeting room in the building he remembered from his time at the BBC.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe day will come when there\u2019ll be private publishing houses in the Soviet Union.\u201d A previously unpublished interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinhouse.com\/blog\/22158\/22158.html\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Brodsky<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was all the rage!
