The Literary Review<\/em><\/a> has released the shortlist for the twentieth annual Bad Sex in Fiction Award. The nominees for achievement in terrible sex writing include:<\/p>\n

  • The Adventuress<\/em>, by Nicholas Coleridge <\/li>\n
  • Infrared<\/em>, by Nancy Huston <\/li>\n
  • Rare Earth<\/em>, by Paul Mason <\/li>\n
  • Noughties<\/em>, by Ben Masters <\/li>\n
  • The Quiddity of Will Self<\/em>, by Sam Mills <\/li>\n
  • The Divine Comedy<\/em>, by Craig Raine<\/li>\n
  • Back to Blood<\/em>, by Tom Wolfe<\/li>\n

    Mr. Wolfe, you will recall, is a previous winner, having taken top honors in 2004 for I Am Charlotte Simmons<\/em>. He was deemed eligible for this year’s awards by dint of passages like the following:<\/p>\n
