One hopes their ending with the perennially macabre 1962 Crystals single \u201cHe Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)\u201d won&#8217;t have the same effect, despite the song\u2019s enduring place in both the camp and gender-studies canons. It\u2019s jarring to discover that Natural Woman Carole King was behind the lyrics (apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allmusic.com\/song\/t1072015\">inspired by Little Eva\u2019s<\/a> disclosures about her boyfriend\u2019s domestic violence) and even more so when you think that Phil Spector masterminded the arrangement.
