In these videograms, poets read and discuss the poems<\/em><em> that are helping them through these strange times\u2014broadcasting straight from their couches to yours. My grandmother sits in her chair<\/p>\n<p>sweetening into the blue velvet. Domestic<br \/>\ndeclension is the window that never opens\u2014<\/p>\n<p>the paint peeling, dusting the sill, and inhaled.<br \/>\nIt is an american love she lives in,<\/p>\n<p>my grandmother, rigored to televangelists<br \/>\nand infomercials. Losing the use of her legs.<\/p>\n<p>Needing to be turned like a mattress.<br \/>\nNo one is coming for her. The dog is<\/p>\n<p>asleep in the yard, her husband,<br \/>\nobedient to the grease and garlic<\/p>\n<p>in the cast iron, salting her<br \/>\ndeath in the wind house.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Donika Kelly is the author of two collections of poems, <\/em>Bestiary<em> and <\/em>The Renunciations<em>. She teaches at the University of Iowa.
