After an eventful nine months of The Art of Distance\u2014thirty-nine installments, to be exact\u2014we\u2019ve decided to retire this Monday fixture. That\u2019s not because we\u2019re not still socially distanced (we are, and are still working from bedroom desks and dining room tables), or because we\u2019re ready to show the lower halves of our faces in public (we\u2019re not, and are still masked and glad, at least, for the winter windscreen), but because while we\u2019ve had a good run, we are eager to try some new things in this new year. The Art of Distance was always meant to be a temporary endeavor, and we are grateful that it could offer a literary context\u2014as well as some inspiration, some entertainment, and some comfort\u2014to readers around the globe through a tumultuous time. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We are still fine-tuning some exciting new features, but for those who have an Art of Distance\u2013size hole in their inboxes, I have a few recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For treasures from the vault, subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/theparisreview.us17.list-manage.com\/subscribe?u=b6c161007733f0d4c084f3fde&amp;id=35491ea532\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Redux<\/a>, which unlocks pieces from the magazine archive every Sunday.<\/li>\n<li>Need some poems? I throned myself in the white<br \/>\nNoise of its silence and watched as the world<br \/>\nFell away. All the silver flickerings of possibility<br \/>\nGoing out like the sound of horse hooves<br \/>\nClicking into the distance. <em>It is almost the end<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Of the world.<\/em> Anesthesia of medicine, and me,<br \/>\nBeneath its warm bell of milk.
