Delany\u2019s<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Motion-Light-Water-Science-Fiction\/dp\/081664523X\/\">The Motion of Light in Water<\/a><\/em> in a day. I can\u2019t stop talking about it, because I can\u2019t stop thinking about it. It evokes bohemian New York in the fifties and sixties<strong>\u2014<\/strong>gay, straight, and other<strong>\u2014<\/strong>more vividly than anything I\u2019ve read.<strong> \u2014Lorin Stein<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I saw that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Maurice-Manning\/e\/B001IXSAS2\/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1303494093&amp;sr=1-1\">Maurice Manning<\/a> was a finalist for a Pulitzer this year, I went and reread much of his poetry\u2014psalms and pastorals, a philosophical ode to Daniel Boone. If you don\u2019t know his work, you now have no excuse. \u2014<strong>Nicole Rudick<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What got me about Martin Amis\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Information-Martin-Amis\/dp\/0679735739\/\"><em>The<\/em> <em>Information<\/em><\/a> were the quick, declarative sentences that suddenly appear in otherwise bleak and descriptive paragraphs. At the start of the novel, Amis skirts around our main character until\u00a0tying\u00a0everything together with \u201cHe was forty tomorrow, and reviewed books.\u201d\u00a0The economy of language here is divine. \u2014<strong>Rosalind Parry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Egan, who was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction this week, discusses her early hopes of becoming a doctor, life as a struggling writer in New York, and the importance of self-criticism and perseverance in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedaysofyore.com\/jennifer-egan\/\">a candid interview<\/a> with The Days of Yore. \u2014<strong>Elianna Kan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/magazine\/2011\/04\/sebastian-junger-remembers-tim-hetherington-201104\">letter<\/a> from Sebastian Junger to Tim Hetherington, the photographer who was killed in Libya this week, is heartbreaking. \u2014<strong>T.
