Bittman uses a loom to make complexly patterned textiles, which she then overlays with acrylic paint.\u00a0Her practice derives from a fascination with the timelessness of weaving: \u201cthe basics of the over and under warp and weft interlacements has remained unchanged,\u201d she said in <a href=\"https:\/\/newamericanpaintings.com\/blog\/conversation-samantha-bittman\" target=\"_blank\">an interview with <\/a><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/newamericanpaintings.com\/blog\/conversation-samantha-bittman\" target=\"_blank\">New American Paintings<\/a><em>: \u201cI feel like it is evolutionarily locked in our brains somewhere \u2026\u00a0I am more engaged with the aspects of weaving that are rooted in mathematics and numbers, as well as the accumulative nature of the weaving process \u2026 My
