Scurr has assembled an \u201cautobiography\u201d for Aubrey from remnants of his\u00a0letters, manuscripts, and books, setting his sensitivities against the turmoil of Restoration-era England. He emerges as an empathetic, surprisingly modern figure.\u00a0<\/em><em>Below, Lucas Adams illustrates\u00a0some of his favorite entries from<\/em>\u00a0My Own Life.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a
