Anderson is a British painter of Jamaican descent: \u201cThe first time I went to Jamaica, I was fourteen,\u201d he told Sotheby\u2019s a few years ago. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sothebys.com\/en\/news-video\/blogs\/all-blogs\/contemporary\/2013\/02\/artist-hurvin-anderson-conversation.html\" target=\"_blank\">My elder siblings all came from there and I got to know the island through them<\/a>. I wasn\u2019t born there, so I didn\u2019t actually fit in. I feel more British than Jamaican at times and vice versa.
