Marcos Bontempo\u2019s exhibition \u201cLight and Dark<\/a>\u201d is at Ricco Maresca Gallery in New York through November 26. Bontempo lives and works in\u00a0Andalusia; he paints on the floor using ink and salt on paper, which he prefers to canvas. \u201cThe shapes express the poor reality, the mutilation of an ill body that does not want to be forgotten by God<\/a>,\u201d he\u2019s said of his abstracted human forms, often depicted in extremis. \u201cI do not let them alone in their ordeal \u2026\u00a0I think I am a schizophrenic.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
