Image on a Curving Surface Seen in Evening Traffic

What do I see? What do I wish to tell.
How haunting the shadow of a metal stair
Circling a tank is in the evening sun?
Why should this leave the breath taken
And the heart undone
With glow of an image rising in the mind.
The kind I love, one image holding another one?

Clairvoyant lines that easily are
Free of reason's frugal use.
This phantom without flaw
Has the ephemera) license to be real,
A black delight too soon to fade.
Sad perfection has not long to dote on
The imperilled art that it has made.
